British adventurer and TV presenter Bear Grylls is recovering in hospital after suffering a serious injury while on an expedition across Antarctica.
The Man Vs. Wild star was said to be in "shock and agony" after fracturing his shoulder in a fall on Friday, according to reports.
Grylls was airlifted to South Africa on Sunday and was later flown to his native U.K. for further medical treatment.
A statement released by U.S. network Discovery Channel reads: "Bear is currently on route back to the U.K. to get the medical attention he needs.
"Once he sees a doctor, we will have a better sense of the level of seriousness of his shoulder injury and the recovery time needed to get him back to his full physical activity."
Grylls was not filming for his hit Discovery series but was involved in a private expedition for Ethanol Ventures - a biofuels group.
