If another "The X-Files" movie was to be made, it will most likely see the return of the aliens to the sci-fi film. Talking to MovieWeb in the promotional effort for "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" DVD version, writer/producer Frank Spotnitz states, "Yeah. I mean, if we were to make one more feature, I think we would definitely have to deal with alien colonization."
He also hints that the third movie may be the last of the series. "I would think so," he notes when asked whether "The X-Files 3" would be the final closure film. "It certainly would be designed to be the period on the sentence." Meanwhile, on the possible date the movie will come out, Spotnitz suggests late 2012 to be one of the potential release dates.
"There's a date that looms very important in X-Files mythology, which is December 2012. I think after the DVD comes out,

With only a month and a half left of 2008, we at Boxwish are starting to get all nostalgic looking back over what has been a great year for films. In the action genre there was the return of old favourites Indiana Jones, James Bond and Batman with some exciting new kids on the block like Iron Man also making their mark. Boyish comedies consistently delivered laughs such as Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express and Step Brothers, while ladies got a strong shout-out with the likes of Sex and the City and Mamma Mia! Adorable robot Wall•E stole hearts, musicals as diverse as High School Musical 3 and Sweeney Todd had us tapping our feet and directors such as Guy Ritchie (RocknRolla) and the Coen brothers (No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading) made dramatic comebacks. And so as the year that was begins to wind up, we look back at

A Final Night With George W Bush.” Variety reports that the stage production will be helmed by Adam McKay, the writer-director of Ferrell pics “Step Brothers,” “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” No details on the plot just yet, but the production begins previews Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, ahead of a Feb. 1 opening at the Cort Theater. The limited engagement is set to go dark on March 15th. The writing credits have not yet been confirmed, although it seems likely Ferrell and McKay will collaborate on the script, since the duo co-wrote the screenplays for all three of their prior film outings.

Paramount's restoration of the Godfather trilogy is a godsend and I already brought you the trailer, a 2001 vs. 2008 comparison as well as my review. However, I forgot to mention in the review that Steven Spielberg was actually the one that approached Paramount's Brad Grey on behalf of Francis Ford Coppola asking to begin the restoration on his "first" day when DreamWorks and Paramount teamed up. Strange the restored version would come out only a few days after Paramount and DreamWorks split. BUY THE TRILOGY: DVD Trilogy | Blu-Ray Trilogy

The setting was ironic. While attending a charity golf tournament, Will Ferrell told USA Today that he was no longer going to make sports comedies.
The star of Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory, Kicking and Screaming, and Semi-Pro says, "You know, I think I filled my quota."
"I will no longer attempt to do any sports movie, anymore. Any sports," clarified the legendary Ron Burgundy. "I'm retired from sports-genre films."
With Step Brothers marking the third straight year and fourth time since 2003 that he's had a movie earn over $100 million, Ferrell is free to focus on other pursuits. He is currently only committed to next year's Land of the Lost adaptation, although there has been rampant speculation that we'll see a follow-up to Anchorman sooner than later.
In the meantime, he's golfing, wearing on Friday what was described as "loud black and white shorts, garish gold shoes, green socks and

It looks like Will Ferrell has finally gotten the message. The whole sports comedy thing is so over. Talking to USA Today at a charity golf tournament, Ferrell pledged, "I will no longer attempt to do any sports movie, anymore. Any sports." "Yeah, I'm retired from sports-genre films. You know, I think I filled my quota," Ferrell said. Will hasn't really done as many sports-genre comedies as you might think though. He's currently up to a total of four. It's just that he did all four in less than three years. Of those four only two, Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory, ever made much of a mark. Kicking & Screaming and Semi-Pro came and went from theaters with barely a whisper. After the flop of Semi-Pro earlier this year, it makes sense that Ferrell would be ready to call it quits. Did you see Step Brothers? Hilarious, and sports ...

George seems to be enjoying the weekend
Photo: Focus Features Whenever a Tyler Perry film makes its way to the theater you can pretty much count on it taking the top spot. Unless I am mistaken Meet the Browns is the only Perry film that didn't take the #1 spot on opening weekend and it came in second to Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! Not bad if you ask me and it is in a tight race for #1 this weekend with the Coen brother comedy Burn After Reading (read my review) with Friday estimates showing a mere $0.16 million separating the two with Burn edging out Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys by a notch. For the Coens this is a pretty big score considering their films aren't exactly box-office draws, but it appears the trailers may have had just enough mad cap behavior and the overall positive reviews told audiences

Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and John Malkovich
Directed by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
Rated R
Despite their overdue acceptance speeches at this year’s Academy Awards for No Country for Old Men, Joel and Ethan Coen don’t really make moralistic contemporary Westerns and they sure don’t co-opt another writer’s dialogue. Instead, the brothers have carved out their niche over the past two decades by telling peculiar stories punctuated with an identifiable brand of absurdity.
Not to take anything away from their Best Picture winner, but No Country is atypical of their other great work, like Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and O Brother Where Art Thou. Though Anton Chigurh is definitely strange, for example, he’s not an oddball in the mold of H.I. McDonough from Raising Arizona.
Therefore, Burn After Reading might seem downright light and amusing by comparison to No Country,

Actor John C. Reilly dreads filming sex scenes - because he worries he will become aroused by his female co-stars.
The Step Brothers star insists his body responds favourably while he is in bed with an actress, despite the many distractions on set.
He says, "It's always really uncomfortable to have to swap spit with someone and rub bodies. People (actors) always say, 'In a lovemaking scene, sex is the furthest thing from your mind because you're worried about the crew and lighting'. Bulls**t!
"If you lie naked against someone of the opposite sex, things happen. The plumbing department doesn't always get in touch with the brain. It just happens!
"You're simulating sex so your body is very confused."

It's been a while since we've seen numbers like this: The top five movies at the box office on Friday combined to make $13 million. That's all five of them. We discussed the Labor Day weekend and Hollywood's aversion to put out quality on the last unofficial weekend of summer in our Fearless Forecast on Thursday. These numbers back up our argument: If you release a Tropic Thunder here or a Step Brothers or a Mummy on Labor Day, do you think they'd make money?
As it is, the race for the top spot is too close to call. After Friday's estimates, according to Box Office Mojo, Babylon A.D. leads Tropic Thunder by a mere $30,000. I think that will turn in favor of Tropic Thunder, because in its third weekend, that film should be more stable and consistent over the four days. The $3.1 million Babylon A.D. earned is the spike, the curious crowd.

Anna Faris may finally be getting her due. After years of fearless and sparkling work in lowbrow spoofs and indie doodles, she's starring in and executive producing a big Hollywood comedy, "The House Bunny." Whether it's worthy of her talents is yet to be seen, but it definitely heralds a new stage in her circuitous career, one in which she can start calling her own shots. If given the chance, she's capable of out-dumbing Judy Holliday and out-ditzing Carole Lombard, or at least give them a run for their heiress money.
With the Apatow boys dominating the comedy circuit, there's been little room for feisty female comediennes. Apatow's art is based on absurdist riffs on macho man-children, the women serving as sullen straight gals. There are some exceptions, of course (Kathryn Hahn's sex-starved wife in "Step Brothers," Molly Shannon's boozehound in "Talledega Nights"), but

What a pretty ass explosion...
Photo: Warner Bros.Pictures When I started writing about movies way back in 2003 I didn't know sh!t. I looked at films on a surface level only. I had always loved movies, but I loved them for how big the explosions were and how cool the effects were... that is... for the most part. Sure, I looked a little deeper into The Matrix (thought it was cool), thought the fake eyelash was cool after A Clockwork Orange and I am not at all ashamed to admit I love Titanic as a love story, but when it comes down to it I went to the theater for the more special effects driven "cool" flicks. To me, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a reason to buy a ticket. Marie Antoinette was not. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a reason to buy a ticket.

Photo: Paramount/DreamWorks Steve Mason at Fantasy Moguls has offered up the early Friday box-office estimates and it is as everyone (although I thought Retardgate might hurt it) expected, Tropic Thunder will take the weekend top spot and The Dark Knight will fall to #3 with the animated Star Wars feature taking the #2 spot despite a slew of negative reviews. Unfortunately for Fox and Alexandre Aja the new horror flick Mirrors will tumble to fifth despite beating Pineapple Express on Friday. First for Tropic Thunder, a film that looks to hit the numbers it was expected to, at least in terms of its 3-day total as the 5-day total for the film looks like it will underperform by about $8 million based on box-office tracking, which is not an exact science so it doesn't mean too much. I am sure the intellectually disabled advocates will have a hard time seeing a silver

Oh baghead man with man titties, you get me so hot!
Photo: Sony Pictures Classics I can't help but wonder if movies should always be graded on the same scale. Should Godfather Part II be graded on the same scale as Space Chimps? When I review Step Brothers should I look at it the same way as Hostel? I have always looked at movies from a perspective of pure entertainment in my eyes, is there really any other way? Should I look at Mamma Mia! and give it a better grade than it actually deserves in my eyes just because the target audience is going to enjoy it even though I did not? To these questions I say, "No." In the case here with Baghead, should I give it a pass because it was made by a couple of guys that are trying their hardest to become big-time filmmakers even
